Penang update, March, 2004.

The LB scene in Penang changes very fast, like in many other locations I guess, but please don’t anybody make a special visit here, - it really is not worth the trouble. The scene is centred around three main streets in the town and the whole area is within walking distance of the SOHO bar in Jalan Penang, Georgetown, Penang Island. The three streets are Jalan Penang, Jalan Chulia and Leith Street. Also the appropriately named Love Lane off Jalan Chulia and the few streets which join into Jalan Chulia. Really you need to walk the area to see what is going on. No use using a car here. The Federal hotel is across the street from Soho bar and is home to mostly Indonesian LBs with the occasional Thai but they’re nothing to write home about. They don’t show until after midnight normally but that’s not unusual for LBs anywhere. Same times apply for Leith Street and Jalan Chulia. Off Jalan Chulia is the aptly named “Love Lane” where all the local Indian Malay transvestites hang out and man are they gruesome. They may be cheap, like 50 Ringgit short time but don’t go there brother, I wouldn’t risk it with someone else’s dick, let alone mine. Remember the song “Penicillin Penny” – you’ll need a hundred thousands units and more to cure what Penicillin Penny is gonna lay on you. So on to the infamous Halo Crystal café, (see the pictures and die man). These LBs are so bad with the exception of Bonita that most LB lovers would be scared shitless seeing these monsters and immediately revert to heterosexual leanings. Crazy thing is these people show from around 3 or 4 in the afternoon and monsters like these should always stay in the shadows, - even then they’d scare you. My job takes me here for weeks, sometimes months at a time and I’m not complaining because both Ban Dannok and Betong are less than 2 hours drive away just across the border into Thailand which is normally where I spend my weekends whilst I’m in Malaysia. So the LBs come and go same as Thailand and everywhere else but here in Penang it seems to change almost nightly, certainly weekly and monthly so by the time this report goes up it will be out of date. But don’t expect the standard of LBs to improve with time. I’ve been coming here for 18 months now and have usually paid for a Thai to come and stay with me for extended periods at my hotel whilst I have to work in this place.

In the Soho bar, Jalan Penang, there are usually six or seven Thai LBs/GGs most evenings from about 10.30 p.m. but that cannot be relied on, and they’re nothing special anyway, in fact they wouldn’t get a look in back home which is probably why they come to ply their trade in Malaysia.
